This film series explores many aspects of our society. To rethink what is possible in our world, we need to consider what kind of world we want to live in. Although we refer to it as a civilization, it is anything but civilized. Visions of global unity & fellowship have long inspired humanity, yet the social arrangements up to the present have largely failed to produce a peaceful and productive world. While we appear to be technically advanced, our values and behaviors are not. The possibility of an optimistic future is in stark contrast to our current social, economic, and environmental dilemmas. The Choice Is Ours includes interviews with notable scientists, media professionals, authors, and other thinkers exploring the difficulties we face.

Part I provides an introduction and overview of cultural & environmental conditions that are untenable for a sustainable world civilization. It explores the determinants of behavior to dispel the myth of “human nature” while demonstrating how the environment shapes behavior. The science of behavior is an important — yet largely missing — ingredient in our culture.

Part II questions the values, behaviors, and consequences of our social structures, and illustrates how our global monetary system is obsolete and increasingly insufficient to meet the needs of most people. Critical consideration of the banking, media, and criminal justice systems reveals these institutions for what they really are: tools of social control managed by the established political and economic elite. If we stay the present course, the familiar cycles of crime, economic booms & busts, war, and further environmental destruction are inevitable.

Part III explains the methods and potential of science. It proposes solutions that we can apply at present to eliminate the use of non-renewable sources of energy. It depicts the vision of The Venus Project to build an entirely new world from the ground up, a “redesign of the culture,” where all enjoy a high standard of living, free of servitude and debt, while also protecting the environment.

Part IV explains how it is not just architecture and a social structure that is in desperate need of change, but our values which have been handed down from centuries ago. They too need to be updated to our technological age, which has the potential to eliminate our scarcity-driven societies of today. Our problems are mostly of our own making, but we can still turn things around before the point of no return. It’s not too late for an optimistic outlook on the fantastic possibilities that lie before us.

*special thanks also to Alexander «Obraz» …Obraz.io who created the many 2d motion depictions (plus the sound fx!) of concepts such as the «hamburgers and fried chicken» segment and many others which are Alexander’s inimitable work style and attention to details where we needed very specific illustrations of key points.

The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt, and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today’s world.

Ah yes, now it comes out… "the science of behavior." We know where this rabbit hole leads, too. This is the science of cybernetics — how to shape human behavior to make us more docile workers. this is what Bill Gates and Klaus Schwab want… we will eat the bugs and work, they will eat the steaks and party in the Seychelles.

In Frescos models there is no government. Everyone just arrives at a solution that satisfies everyone every time. If a mistake or crime is commited, there is no justice sytem, becaus nobody ever has that problem. Every issue and problem will be taken care of by everyone else, without compensation, becaus everyone's every need is met, all the time. People will volountairly do everything they can to improve them selves to help everyone else from birth to death, becaus everything is free and nothing is demanded from anyone.

All human problems are caused by the wrong kind of cities with a monetary systems. Without those, we would all live in paradice all the time, untill the end of time. " Einstein did not create the theory of relativity for money", "Fresco did not create the Venus project for money", why would anybody need money?
Automised farms will poduce all the food everyone needs in magnificent quantity and quality. Automized drones will deliver everything your heart desires to your house, which was is built and maintained by robots and everything will be managed by AI, that ensures optimal distribution and abundance.

"The transition period will be difficult" But in a bout 10 years after all exicting cities have been demolished, new ones will have bee built according to Fresco's model. "This system will be a strayjacket for the next generation, so then the system must be improved" to provide even more abundance and freedom to do everything or nothing at any time anyone decires without any kind of laws or behaviour codes.

Fresco is quite a good engineer but absolutely awful at psychology and understanding human behaviour. These documentaries are fun for their views on thechnology, but for beahviour absolutely not. A human doesn't work like the machine Fresco thinks he is. listen to great psychologists.

we are only a few years away from 2030 but the question remains: Are we clever enough to understand Jacque Fresco words that a Resource Base Economy is the only solution, or we keep on burning fuels until they finish and then, what?

This is the best documentary I ever watched 🥲I think that everyone should consider donating (even if a little) to build these 100% self-sustaning cities based on AI tech. The goal should be living well without money and not needing humans to work much.

I remember 10 years ago how hyped I was about the Venus project but since Jacques is gone, I feel like the poor man devoted 100 years to make the world a better place but that people greed have got the best of us and made sure his dream never got to fruition 🙁

All of these years later, I still can't see how we can remove the millions fake barrier that divided us more every year that pass (religions, money/greed, rich corporation that build more and more power all around the world while building more and more armed jarhead forces of completely brainwashed soldiers and police force to make sure they keep the control in their own hands)

I really hope people will wake up sooner then later and will decide to unite instead of growing further from each other and becoming more and more self centered (especially since covid we can see how this affected people deeply and make them more recluded and keep them busy with escapism to avoid the reality that we will sooner or later realize that we have hit the wall 10 years ago but we still do nothing about it 🙁
